Top Tips for Maintaining Carpet

Here are the top tips of Do’s & Don’ts to maintaining your carpet.

1

Blot the spot

Don’t just leave the spill to dry, blot the spot with a clean white cotton towel.

2

Vacuuming is key

Vacuuming is your key to a long happy life of your carpet, if you can see soil (on the surface) that means there is a lot of soil below the surface.

3

Keep the dirt outside

Vacuum or sweep your welcome/walk off matt often… keep the dirt outside.

4

Replace your vacuum bag

Replace your vacuum bag or empty the container frequently, this allows the vacuum motor greater suction.

5

Carpet cleaning yourself

If you are doing carpet cleaning yourself, apply the chemistry to the carpet using a garden type pump up sprayer and only use fresh clean water in your extractor.

02. FOR TILE & GROUT

Top Tips for Maintaining Tile & Grouted Floors

Here are the top tips of Do’s & Don’ts to maintaining your tile / grouted floors.

1

Use a good grout sealer right after installation like Aqua mix Sealers Choice Gold or Miracle Brand 511 impregnator sealer.

2

DIY cleaning options

Looking for DIY cleaning options? Try the following:

  • A solution of a ½ cup baking soda with a ¼ cup peroxide can be used to clean grout
  • Vinegar (50/50 solution) is a mild acid and can be used as well
  • The third option is household bleach couple oz per cup.

WARNING!
Remember do not mix vinegar solution and bleach solutions — rinse thoroughly as to not create chlorine gas!!!

3

Clean up loose debris & material

Sand and grit can dull the glazed surfaces. Sweep or vacuum your tile floors regularly to keep them from getting dull.

4

Watch for soap residue

If your tiles look cloudy after cleaning, you might be dealing with soap residue. You could also try a homemade cleaner with mild acid (such as fresh lemon juice) on ceramic or porcelain tiles (but never on stone tiles).
