carpet fibercolor shift

While out on a routine maintenance inspection at a client’s facility, Chip Grimes, President of Facility Services Group, discovered areas of red discoloration in the carpet. After discussing the carpet fiber color shift with XL North’s Bill Luallen, it was determined that chemical overspray from a previous tile and grout cleaning had discolored the carpet. Fortunately, it was a fixable issue and FSG’s technicians were provided the following process to correct the problem.

  • The carpet fibers damaged by the color shift were dampened.
  • Undiluted XL TC Tile Cleaner was sprayed onto the areas, agitated with a brush and allowed to dwell for approximately 5-10 minutes.
  • A spot extractor was used to rinse and remove XL TC.

Although it took three rounds of this process to change the color back to original, each round showed significant improvement.
